Active Movers: Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), SeaDrill Limited (NYSE:SDRL), Mondelez International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDLZ)

On Wednesday, in the course of current trade, Shares of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), gained 0.15%, and is now trading at $49.49.

AOL Inc.’s board, spurred by a joint venture proposal from Verizon Communications Inc., began last December considering options counting a breakup and acquisition bids from three unnamed parties, according to Bloomberg.

Verizon’s proposal for a joint venture built around mobile content and advertising systems for a planned streaming TV service ultimately led AOL’s directors earlier this month to accept Verizon’s $4.4 billion takeover offer, Bloomberg Reports.

Verizon Communications Inc., through its auxiliaries, provides communications, information, and entertainment products and services to consumers, businesses, and governmental agencies worldwide.

Shares of energy companies have been punished because of plummeting prices of WTI crude oil. Presently trading at about $57.90 a barrel, the commodity has had a wild ride this year after plunging from $100 a barrel about a year ago.

During an Afternoon trade, Shares of SeaDrill Limited (NYSE:SDRL), dipped -0.50%, and is now trading at $12.85.

Seadrill Limited, an offshore drilling contractor, provides offshore drilling services to the oil and gas industry worldwide. The company operates through Floaters and Jack-up Rigs segments. The Floaters segment provides drilling, completion, and maintenance services for offshore exploration and production wells. Its drilling contracts regarding semi-submersible rigs and drillships for harsh and benign environments in mid, deep, and ultra-deep waters.

Finally, Consumer stocks were mostly higher, with shares of consumer staples companies in the S&P 500 rising nearly 0.7% while shares of consumer discretionary firms in the S&P 500 were ahead by more than 0.5%.

Shares of Mondelez International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDLZ), during its Wednesday’s current trading session gained 0.30%, and is now trading at $40.06.

Mondelez International, Inc., through its auxiliaries, manufactures and markets snack food and beverage products worldwide. The company offers biscuits, counting cookies, crackers, and salted snacks; chocolates, and gums and candies; powdered beverages and coffee; and cheese and grocery products.
