Active Stocks in Action: Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), Southern Company (NYSE:SO), Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPR)

On Wednesday, Shares of Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), gained 1.05% to $59.41.

On August 5, Comcast has added its newest member to the California Technical Operations group, naming Joe Bell as the new Area Vice President for the South Valley. Bell will report to Amy Lynch, Regional Vice President of Technical Operations for Comcast California.

Bell will be overseeing all aspects of Comcast’s operations in the South Valley, counting Fresno, Merced, Visalia, Santa Maria and North Santa Barbara areas. He recently served as the Senior Director of Technical Operations, for the Big South region. In that role, Bell was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the South Area which comprises Central and Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Southern Alabama. Bell replaces Jeff Votaw who recently transferred to Sacramento to serve as Area Vice President for the Sacramento Valley.

Comcast Corporation operates as a media and technology company worldwide. It operates through Cable Communications, Cable Networks, Broadcast Television, Filmed Entertainment, and Theme Parks segments. The Cable Communications segment offers video, high-speed Internet, and voice services to residential and business customers under the XFINITY brand name.

Shares of Southern Company (NYSE:SO), inclined 1.44% to $46.03, during its last trading session.

As Tuesday, August 11, is observed across the country as National 811 Day, Georgia Power reminds customers of the importance of calling 811 before they dig. The company works every day with Georgia 811 to ensure that projects are safe and comply with the “Georgia Dig Law.” The law requires that workers contact Georgia 811 before digging to have all underground utility lines (such as power, communications, gas and water lines) clearly marked.

Having the location of underground infrastructure marked with flags, spray paint or both, assists prevent unintended service disruptions, injuries to workers, possible repair costs and fines. A notice must be made within two business days, but no more than ten business days, in advance of starting any digging project.

Through June of this year, Georgia Power has responded to nearly 400,000 requests for locating and marking of underground lines. More than half of these requests have been made in the Metro Atlanta area, where Georgia Power’s record for accurately locating lines is more than 5 times better than the national average.

Georgia Power is the largest partner of Southern Company (SO), one of the nation’s largest generators of electricity. Value, Reliability, Customer Service and Stewardship are the cornerstones of the company’s promise to 2.4 million customers in all but four of Georgia’s 159 counties.

The Southern Company, together with its auxiliaries, operates as a public electric utility company. It is involved in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity through coal, nuclear, oil and gas, and hydro resources in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi.

Finally, Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPR), ended its last trade with -0.80% loss, and closed at $54.87.

Spirit AeroSystems Holdings stated second quarter financial results driven by positive operating performance of mature programs. Spirit’s second quarter 2015 revenues were $1.7 billion, down six percent contrast to the same period of 2014 primarily due to the Gulfstream wing divestiture and lower revenues recognized on the 787 program.

The Board of Directors has authorized a share repurchase program of up to $350 million of Spirit’s common stock under which repurchases may be made intermittently through December 31, 2017.

Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc., through its auxiliaries, operates as a non-original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that designs, engineers, and manufactures large commercial aircraft structures worldwide. It operates through three segments: Fuselage Systems, Propulsion Systems, and Wing Systems.
