Active Stocks to Track: Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS), CBS Corporation (NYSE:CBS), 21Vianet Group Inc (NASDAQ:VNET)

On Wednesday, Shares of Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS), gained 3.21% to $14.13.

Staples, declared that it funded 176 local classroom projects in New York City, as part of its recent $10 million pledge to Think It Up™, a new national initiative of the Entertainment Industry Foundation that seeks to inaugurate a new movement in support of students, teachers and schools, assisting to create a culture of excitement about learning everywhere in America. This fall, Think It Up, in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, will launch a platform to fund student-powered, teacher-led learning projects in classrooms across the country.

Actress and Think It Up ambassador Vanessa Williams attended the declaration in support of New York City’s students and teachers. “Both of my parents were teachers, so I’ve seen firsthand how much teachers give to assist their students achieve success,” Williams said. “I’m thrilled that Think It Up, together with DonorsChoose.org and Staples, is taking this opportunity to give back to the teachers of New York City Public Schools and all of the students whose lives they will impact this school year.”

Staples, Inc., together with its auxiliaries, operates office products superstores. It operates through three segments: North American Stores & Online, North American Commercial, and International Operations.

Shares of CBS Corporation (NYSE:CBS), inclined 1.12% to $44.28, during its last trading session.

CBS Corporation declared that Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, will take part in a question-and-answer session at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s 2015 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.

21Vianet Group declared that its Board of Directors has designated Mr. Sean Shao as an independent director, effective on August 24, 2015. Mr. Shao will also serve as a member and the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board.

 

Mr. Josh Chen, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, stated, “We are delighted to enhance our Board with the appointment of Mr. Shao, a highly seasoned finance veteran with extensive board level experience. Mr. Terry Wang, the chief financial officer of the Company, has resigned as a director of the board, a member of the Compensation Committee and chair of the Audit Committee. Mr. Kenneth Chung-Hou Tai, who has served as an independent director since October 2012, will replace Mr. Wang as a member of the Compensation Committee.
