On Wednesday, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)’s shares inclined 1.02% to $32.59.

The board of directors of Pfizer Inc. declared a 30-cent first-quarter 2016 dividend on the company’s common stock, payable March 2, 2016, to shareholders of record at the close of business on February 5, 2016. Pfizer raised the dividend by about 7 percent, to 30 cents from 28 cents per share.

The first-quarter 2016 cash dividend will be the 309th successive quarterly dividend paid by Pfizer.

“The dividend enhance is a testament to our continued commitment to enhancing shareholder value and our confidence in the business,” stated Ian Read, Pfizer chairman and chief executive officer. “As always, we are focused on maximizing total shareholder return, of which the dividend remains a key component.”

The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one-percent of the total voting membership.

While working at Bell Laboratories he led pioneering research that assisted the industry through one of the most noteworthy transitions in the history of CMOS technology - the shift from the gate-first to the gate-last (replacement gate) process. His work on extending the use of replacement gate technology continued at Applied Materials, and recently virtually all state-of-the-art CMOS logic devices, counting FinFET transistors, use replacement gate technology. In addition, early on in his career Dr. Chang made pivotal contributions in deposition, etching and advanced plasma processing technologies.
