On Monday, Shares of Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), lost -0.54% to $105.61.
Facebook is shutting a program that let employees pursue their own projects for new apps.
Facebook said it will wind down its in-house app incubator, Creative Labs, and removed three apps spawned by Creative Labs from the iOs and Google Play app stores: the disappearing photo service “Slingshot;” the chat-room app “Rooms;” and video-making app “Riff.”
Creative Labs was designed to assist retain talented Facebook employees and give them wider berth to pursue their own projects. Facebook will continue to develop standalone apps, but without the Creative Labs banner.
“We’re ongoing to embrace the spirit of creative risk-taking by ongoing to allow some smaller development teams within the company to experiment with new ideas for standalone apps,” Facebook said.
Facebook, Inc. operates as a social networking company worldwide. It provides a set of development tools and application programming interfaces that enable developers to integrate with Facebook to create mobile and Web applications.

American Airlines has gifted Green Door Behavioral Health with a year-end contribution of $200,000 in honor of Will Ris, a longtime Green Door Board member who is retiring this month after 20 years as head of American’s Washington DC office. Green Door Behavioral Health is a community-based non-profit that serves more than 1800 DC residents living with persistent mental illness and complications related to substance use disorders. More than 90% of Green Door’s clients live at or below the poverty line.
Ris has been a Green Door Board member since 1995 and has served in many roles, counting chair of the Board. This year he is co-chairing the annual Remarkable Journeys Gala on May 18, which celebrates Green Door’s 40th Anniversary.
“Each of us at American Airlines has been influenced by Will’s advocacy for nearly 20 years. He understands commercial aviation and cares deeply about our frontline professionals,” said Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of American Airlines. “His passion for American is matched only by his genuine love for Green Door Behavioral Health, its mission and, most importantly, the people that are assisted by their work. We are honored to make this donation in honor of Will who, throughout his career, has done so much for so many.”
