Shares of Sunedison Inc (NYSE:SUNE), lost -1.99% to $3.44.
SunEdison, Inc. (SUNE), the largest global renewable energy development company, declared that it has inked a 20-year power-purchase agreement with the city of San Diego that will see 6.6 megawatts of solar installed across 25 city-owned sites. The city estimates that over the life of the agreement the solar systems will save its taxpayers $22 million.
SunEdison will build solar parking canopies at many of the locations. Solar parking canopies provide both shade for parked cars and cost effective, clean solar energy.
The solar systems are predictable to offset more than 70 percent of the electricity used by these buildings, the same amount consumed by around 6,700 California homes a year. The systems will also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 100 million pounds over the 20-year period—the equivalent of taking more than 11,000 cars off the road.
SunEdison plans to start construction during the second quarter of 2016, with completion targeted by the fourth quarter. Operation and maintenance of the solar systems will be performed by SunEdison Services, which provides global asset administration, monitoring and reporting services.

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (HPE), declared that Grand America Hotels and Resorts which comprise seven properties in Utah, Wyoming and Arizona, are upgrading their wireless infrastructure using Aruba’s 802.11ac solution. Two of the flagship hotels, the Grand America, a AAA Diamond Award-winning, Forbes Star property, and the Little America, a popular, 30-year old local landmark, are the first to complete the upgrade to Gigabit Wi-Fi.
While all seven of the Grand America Hotels and Resorts use Aruba wireless infrastructure, the hotel chain implemented 802.11ac at its Salt Lake City Grand America and Little America properties first due to the noteworthyevent revenue they generate. According to Matt Ballif, Director of Event Technology for the Grand and Little America Hotels, the about 650,000 hotel guests who visit the two hotels and another 750,000 to one million annually who attend hotel events such as meetings, conferences, banquets and weddings, demand faster, more reliable Wi-Fi.
“For our event attendees, the wireless network is often mission critical,” said Ballif. “From the starting, our focus was on our 100,000 square feet of event and meeting space in the two flagship hotels and upgrading our infrastructure to provide high-speed, dependable connectivity in these frequently dense environments. That led us to taking on the entire property to upgrade the guest rooms, as well.”
