On Friday, Shares of SunEdison, Inc. (NYSE:SUNE), gained 0.42% to $11.99.

SunEdison declared the successful installation and operation of eight solar systems for India’s Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The newly finished Badarpur-Faridabad line is the first metro line in the DMRC network to integrate solar into the design of the buildings. The solar systems are built on the roofs of the stations and depot and are predictable to generate 1.9 megawatts (MW) of clean, reliable, and cost effective solar power.

“Millions of people rely on the Delhi Metro each day and by installing SunEdison’s solar system in eight of the metro lines, we are excited that these commuters will be able to benefit from a clean and reliable source of electricity,” said Pashupathy Gopalan, SunEdison’s president of Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa. “These systems took only two months to build and will generate electricity for the metro line for 25 to 30 years with little maintenance cost.”

A DMRC representative commented: “The solar plants on the rooftops of the Faridabad line represent our commitment to clean energy, and to bringing the best technology and expertise to support our network. We thank SunEdison for their work on these plants, and look forward to working with them again.”

The solar systems are predictable to generate 2.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year, and avoid the emission of 1,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year, the equivalent of taking 363 cars off the road or preventing more than 800 metric tons of coal from being burned.

SunEdison, Inc. develops, manufactures, and sells silicon wafers to the semiconductor industry. The company operates through three segments: Solar Energy, TerraForm Power, and Semiconductor Materials.

Shares of Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE:EMR), declined -1.31% to $45.82, during its last trading session.

Located 22 miles off the coast of Southern California, Catalina Island is home to about 4,000 people but hosts hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. Because of its isolation from the mainland, it relies on an independent “microgrid” to provide reliable power to the island. To assist manage the multiple sources of electric generation that feed the island’s microgrid more efficiently, Southern California Edison (SCE) will use automation technologies from Emerson Process Administration, a global business of Emerson Electric

Catalina Island’s Pebbly Beach Generating Station is both an electric generating station and a liquefied petroleum gas distribution facility. Emerson’s Ovation™ control system will assist SCE manage six diesel generators, 23 microturbines and a battery storage system, in addition to the island’s LPG plant and water treatment and desalination facilities.

By giving SCE operators a concise view of all generating assets, the system will assist them determine the most efficient way to meet energy demands while reducing environmental impact. Emerson’s SCADA technology will also assist them maintain stable grid voltage while enabling rapid response to changes in demand caused by fluctuations during the tourist season.

Finally, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), ended its last trade with -0.76% loss, and closed at $55.78.

Comcast Corporation declared that Myrna Soto has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO). In this new role, Ms. Soto is responsible for the alignment and development of cyber and data security strategies and policies across the entire Comcast enterprise, counting Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal and Comcast Spectacor. She reports to Michael Cavanagh, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Comcast Corporation.

“Myrna is an outstanding leader both at Comcast and in the information security and technology community,” said Mr. Cavanagh. “We’re happy to have someone with her expertise to oversee this critically important work.”

Before this appointment, Ms. Soto served as Senior Vice President, Chief Infrastructure and Information Security Officer (CIISO) within Engineering & Platform Services for Comcast Cable. Ms. Soto, who joined Comcast in 2009, has more than 25 years of information security and technology leadership experience in a number of industries, counting financial services, hospitality, insurance/risk administration, and gaming/entertainment. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University, a Master of Science degree in Industrial Psychology, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University. She also holds a Masters Certification in Project Administration from George Washington University and is a Certified Project Administration Professional.
