Apple Inc News Update:
A host of major tech companies like Apple (AAPL), Facebook (FB) and Amazon (AMZN) are part of a new investment fund managed by UBS, that brings sustainability investing to life. “A lot of the sustainable investments out there — especially for every day investors — have been what’s called a negative screen,” said Andrei Cherny, co-founder and CEO of Aspiration, the investment firm that launched the Redwood Investment Fund. “You strip out oil, tobacco or firearms — things you don’t want in the fund, but often pay for that with returns.”
- Apple Will Get Even Better at Milking Cash Cows
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is only just starting to milk its herd of cash cows, according to WSJ
That is the view from analysts at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., anyway, who on Wednesday added Apple shares to its “conviction buy list” and said investors don’t appreciate the company’s potential for extracting revenue from its customers.
- China Mobile sued for iPhone 6s ads
Apple’s slogan for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, “The only thing that’s changed is everything”, has disappeared from China Mobile’s official website following a recently filed lawsuit against the telco, claiming it is in violation of China’s newly enforced advertising law, according to zdnet
China Mobile pulled the slogan from its website after a Chinese court accepted to proceed with the case, although the slogan remains on Apple’s official Chinese online store.
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not the first technology firm sued for false advertising. In September, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi was investigated by the Beijing Ministry of Industry and Commerce for using superlative words in describing its product range. Zdnet added
Xiaomi was stated by the CEO of another Chinese smartphone brand Cong, who claimed descriptions in Xiaomi’s ads such as “king of screen”, “world-class”, and “the lowest” breached the new law. Zdnet Report
- SunPower’s Solar Farms for Apple in China to Quadruple Power
SunPower Corp. agreed to build three solar farms in China’s Inner Mongolia region with a capacity of 170 megawatts for Apple Inc., a sale that will more than quadruple the technology company’s commitments to pollution-free power in the country, according to Bloomberg
When accomplished next year, panel manufacturer and developer SunPower, Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor Co. and another partner will own the three plants, San Jose, California-based SunPower said in a regulatory filing Wednesday. While the third investor wasn’t identified in the statement, SunPower Chief Executive Officer Tom Werner said Wednesday that Apple would take an equity stake in the new projects.
This isn’t the first time SunPower has handled solar power for Apple. In April, it agreed to build 40 megawatts of solar for the iPhone maker in the Sichuan province. Last month, Apple said it was planning to invest in 200 more megawatts of the renewable energy and encourage suppliers to make similar commitments. Bloomberg Report
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), ended its last trade with 3.17% high, and closed at $117.29.
