On Monday, Shares of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE:FCX), lost -2.11% to $11.16, as copper prices fall on China’s economic data.

China released economic data for August that showed industrial output and fixed asset investments were both lower than predictable, according to Reuters.

Signs of a continued economic slowdown in China, which imports about 45% of the world’s copper, are reinforcing concerns about low demand for the metal, Reuters reports.

Freeport-McMoRan Inc., a natural resource company, engages in the acquisition of mineral assets, and oil and natural gas resources. It primarily explores for copper, gold, molybdenum, cobalt, silver, and other metals, in addition to oil and gas.

Shares of eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY), declined -2.17% to $25.75, during its last trading session.

BP plans to cut staff, both hourly and salaried, at its Texas City, Texas, chemical plant as it reduces production of paraxylene, which is used to make polyesters, according to sources familiar with the company’s plans, according to Reuters.

The layoffs will comprise 24 hourly and 12 salaried employees, equal to 15 percent of the plant’s work force, one of the sources said.

A BP spokesman said the plant is shutting a paraxylene unit that has been idle for over a year due to market conditions and to make better use of resources. Reuters Reports

Two other paraxylene units will remain open at the plant, which has annual production of 1.4 million tons, according to BP. Reuters added.

Novimmune SA declared that it has signed an international research partnership agreement with Baxalta Incorporated (Baxalta) to develop novel bispecific antibodies for an unspecified indication. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

This is the first partnership utilizing Novimmune’s new kappa-lambda bispecific antibody technology. The proprietary platform generates fully human antibodies which target two specific binding sites with one antibody.

“The kappa-lambda platform is exactly the right technology for therapy areas which need a bispecific antibody that is as close to a natural human antibody as you can get,” said Novimmune CEO Jack Barbut.

Bispecific antibodies presently used in biopharmaceutical applications have been constructed using chemical linkers, non-human material, antibody fragments or forced engineering, he said.
