Researchers at ESC Congress 2015 presented data from secondary analyses of the CHAMPION PHOENIX trial comparing cangrelor, The Medicines Company’s fast-acting, rapid offset, intravenous antiplatelet agent, to oral clopidogrel in 11,145 patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Data demonstrate compriseent reductions by more than 20% in the risk of primary endpoint ischemic events, which comprised a composite of death, myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis and repeat revascularization with cangrelor in patients treated by either the femoral or radial approach. The full report of this subgroup analysis will be published in the European Heart Journal.

“The CHAMPION Program counting PHOENIX demonstrated the benefits associated with the use of a potent, fast-acting intravenous P2Y12 inhibitor over slower-acting clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI,” said Efthymios N. Deliargyris, MD, Vice President, Global Medical Director, Interventional Cardiology for The Medicines Company. “This presentation at ESC affirms the efficacy of cangrelor in patients treated by the radial approach and highlights the clinical synergy that can be achieved when optimal vascular access technique is combined with modern pharmacology.”

Cangrelor was associated with a 21% reduction in the primary outcome of death, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization and stent thrombosis in patients treated by the femoral approach and with a 24% reduction in patients treated by the radial approach contrast with clopidogrel. Importantly, rates of GUSTO severe or moderate bleeding were low overall, without noteworthy differences between cangrelor and clopidogrel (0.7% cangrelor vs. 0.4% clopidogrel with femoral access; 0.3% cangrelor vs. 0.2% clopidogrel with radial access).

The Medicines Company provides medicines for patients in acute and intensive care hospitals worldwide. The company markets Angiomax, an intravenous direct thrombin inhibitor used as an anticoagulant in combination with aspirin in patients with unstable angina undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, and for use in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention; Cleviprex, an intravenous small molecule calcium channel blocker for blood pressure reduction; Minocin IV, an antibiotic for the treatment of infections due to gram-negative bacteria; Orbactiv for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections; PreveLeak, a mechanical vascular and surgical sealant; ready-to-use formulation of Argatroban for the treatment of thrombosis; and Recothrom, a human recombinant thrombin used as an aid to hemostasis, in addition to acute care generic products for acute cardiovascular, surgery and perioperative care, and serious infectious diseases.

At the end of Monday’s trade, Shares of 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD), lost -2.07% to $12.53.

3D Systems, declared that its 3D design-to-print goods and services are being offered through the General Services Administration (GSA) Plans program. Through the GSA Plans program, government agencies access product catalogs with pre-negotiated rates to expedite purchasing, accounting for nearly $50 billion a year in spending or 10 percent of overall federal procurement spending.

This addition of 3DS’ full portfolio coincides with the GSA’s declaration that it has created a 3D Printing Solutions catalog for agency customers—federal, state and local—to procure additive manufacturing products, services, and materials. According to GSA, this “Multiple Award Plan” (MAS 36, SIN 51-400) will support reduced lead times, inventory control, improved mission readiness and sustainability.

“GSA is focused on being the standard bearer for 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing by developing a total solution approach for all federal agencies requiring this technology,” said Walter Johnson, a GSA/Federal Acquisition Service Contract specialist. “The total solution approach GSA is designing will provide a wide range of 3D printing technology, consumable materials, ancillary equipment, imaging devices, software, and rapid prototyping services. We are excited to have Phillips bring 3D Systems and their expansive portfolio to this program.”

Finally, TransCanada Corporation (USA) (NYSE:TRP), ended its last trade with 1.18% gain, and closed at $32.61.

TransCanada’s Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project and Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project, declared a $250,000 partnership with the Tribal Resources Investment Corporation (TRICORP) to offer skills development and training for Aboriginal people in northwestern B.C. through TransCanada’s Pathway to Pipeline Readiness program. Since August of 2014, TransCanada, has spent over $1 million on skills training initiatives in northern B.C., supporting local colleges and Aboriginal training organizations.

“TransCanada is committed to assisting build stronger communities and a better quality of life for those living in northern B.C. Partnerships like this assist communities take advantage of economic opportunities related to TransCanada’s B.C. pipeline projects,” says Tony Palmer, TransCanada’s senior vice president, stakeholder relations. “Aboriginal and local communities, in addition to the socio-economic assessments from both the Coastal GasLink and Prince Rupert pipeline projects, have identified the need for skills training and industry certification programs in northern B.C. This partnership is a direct response to that feedback and we look forward to the contribution that these students will make to our industry.”

“TRICORP has partnered with TransCanada and Service Canada to provide a unique opportunity for Aboriginal people in the Pacific Northwest to obtain the training needed to work in the LNG and other industry sectors,” adds Jacquie Ridley, Chief Operating Officer for TRICORP. “This ‘Training to Employment Program (TEP)’ will also provide the essential skills needed for those participants who are looking for further educational opportunities.”
