According to Fierce Wireless, the prepaid brand intends to entice subscribers who use T-Mobile USA Inc.’s MetroPCS or AT&T Inc.’s Cricket to switch using a familiar promotion. Boost Mobile is pulling out an offer to cut new customers’ rate plans by 50 percent.

From now until July 20, Boost Mobile will be running a “Slash Your Payment in Half” promotion that could save MetroPCS and Cricket customers from $20 to $30 per month for one year, Sprint told the publication.

Sprint, which has been running the “Cut Your Bill in Half” promotion for six months to attract AT&T and Verizon Wireless customers, has practiced success with the marketing tactic. It added 211,000 postpaid subscribers — the most lucrative consumer segment — in the quarter ended March 31, and another 30,000 in the quarter ended Dec. 31. American City Business Journals Reports.

Results will be released at about 4:15 p.m. EDT / 1:15 p.m. PDT.
