Pre- Market News Review: KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ:KLAC), American Water Works Company (NYSE:AWK), VASCO Data Security International, (NASDAQ:VDSI), Sunstone Hotel Investors (NYSE:SHO)

On Monday, KLA-Tencor Corp (NASDAQ:KLAC)’s shares declined -0.06% to $56.17.

American Water Works Company Inc (NYSE:AWK)’s shares gained 3.19% to $50.21.

American Water Works Company Inc (AWK) has reached a Purchase Agreement to acquire the operating assets from Adams Ranch Mutual Water Company and assume the provision of water service within the Adams Ranch Mutual Water Company service area in Rosemead, Calif.

Adams Ranch Mutual Water Company serves residential connections and one commercial connection. The entire system is served by one well built in 2001 together with an interconnection with California American Water.

The purchase of the water system will add about 176 metered customer connections to California American Water’s customer base in the Los Angeles region. California American Water presently supplies water service to more than 28,000 homes and businesses in the Los Angeles County District.

Adams Ranch customers will be served by staff that comprises water treatment and distribution operators who are experts in their fields and hold water and waste water treatment and distribution certifications through the California Department of Public Health.

American Water Works Company, Inc., through its auxiliaries, provides water and wastewater services in the United States and Canada. The company operates through two segments, Regulated Businesses and Market-Based Operations. The Regulated Businesses segment offers water and wastewater services to about 1,600 communities in 16 states.

At the end of Monday’s trade, VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (NASDAQ:VDSI)‘s shares dipped -7.19% to $28.02.

Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc (NYSE:SHO), ended its Monday’s trading session with 4.37% gain, and closed at $15.67.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc (SHOS) declared that its Board of Directors has elected William (Will) A. Powell as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and President, effective right away. Mr. Powell succeeds W. Bruce Johnson, who as formerly declared is stepping down as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and President. The Board of Directors also has elected Mr. Powell as a member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Powell has been Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company since its separation from Sears Holdings Corporation in October 2012. Prior to his employment with the Company he served as Sears Holdings’ Senior Vice President and President, Hometown Stores (at that time a division of Sears Holdings), positions he held from November 2008 to October 2012.

The Company also declared that the Board of Directors has elected E.J. Bird as the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Bird has been a member of the Board of Directors since the Company’s separation from Sears Holdings.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. engages in the retail sale of home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools, and hardware in the United States.
