Pre-Market Stocks Recap: United Parcel Service, (NYSE:UPS), Boeing (NYSE:BA), Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ:CDNS), Penn West Petroleum (NYSE:PWE)

On Thursday, United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS)’s shares inclined 0.56% to $101.45.

UPS (UPS), which operates one of the nation’s largest commercial trucking fleets, is making collision mitigation technology standard equipment on every new Class 8 tractor the company orders. Each of the more than 2,600 new Class 8 tractors that UPS takes delivery of in 2015 will feature this accident mitigation technology, which alerts drivers to moving and stationary objects in front of the tractor and moving objects surrounding the vehicle.

The collision mitigation systems on UPS’s new Class 8 tractors feature lane departure warnings, electronic stability control, and anti-lock air disc brakes. Stability control monitors the tractor trailer’s motions and, especially during turns and slick conditions, automatically distributes braking power to each wheel for a more precise control.

United Parcel Service, Inc., a package delivery company, provides transportation, logistics, and financial services in the United States and internationally. It operates in three segments: U.S. Domestic Package, International Package, and Supply Chain & Freight. The U.S. Domestic Package segment offers time-definite delivery of letters, documents, small packages, and palletized freight through air and ground services in the United States. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA)’s shares dropped -0.79% to $143.00.

Boeing [BA] declared that Oman Air has contracted for a suite of services to support the forthcoming entry into service of the airline’s 787 Dreamliners and to ensure ongoing efficiency and cost savings for its fleet.

Boeing will support Oman Air’s 787s with its Component Services (formerly Rotables Exchange) program, Loadable Software Airplane Parts service and Airplane Health Administration. Together, these services will assist Oman Air minimize the time and cost of maintenance while increasing airplane availability.

With the Component Services program, Oman Air will have access to a Boeing-managed, dedicated pool of high-value, mission-critical parts, enabling the airline to greatly reduce their inventory administration costs while improving component availability.

At the end of Thursday’s trade, Cadence Design Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CDNS)‘s shares dipped -0.19% to $20.93.

Cadence Design Systems Inc (CDNS) and Applied Materials, Inc. (AMAT) recently declared the companies are collaborating on a development program to optimize the chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) process through silicon characterization and modeling for advanced-node designs at 14 nanometer (nm) and below. The program allows design teams to predict the impact of CMP on both functional yield and parametric yield, and for manufacturing teams to boost planarization performance, which is increasingly critical for advanced FinFET architectures.

The Cadence® and Applied Materials joint development program is focused on front end-of-line (FEOL) and wafer-level CMP modeling. Applied Materials can use the Cadence CMP Process Optimizer, a tool that allows silicon calibration of semi-physical models and optimization of CMP material and process parameters such as pressure, polish time and overall CMP uniformity, to enhance the precision performance of its Reflexion® LK Prime™ CMP system.

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. develops, sells, leases, and licenses electronic design automation (EDA) software, emulation and prototyping hardware, verification intellectual property (VIP), and design intellectual property (design IP) for semiconductor and electronics systems industries worldwide.

Penn West Petroleum Ltd (USA) (NYSE:PWE), ended its Thursday’s trading session with 4.55% gain, and closed at $1.38.

Penn West Petroleum Ltd (USA) (PWE) declared that it has finalized and reached definitive amending agreements with the lenders under its syndicated bank facility and the holders of its senior notes to, among other things, amend its financial covenants as initially revealed by the Company in its press release issued on March 12, 2015 announcing its year-end financial and operational results for 2014.

Since Penn West declared in March that it had reached agreements in principle with its lenders and noteholders, the Company has sold or reached agreements to sell assets for aggregate net proceeds of about $415 million , which comprises $318 million from its formerly declared royalty transactions which were accomplished in early May, and about $97 million from non-core asset dispositions which are predictable to be accomplished by the end of the second quarter of 2015. Following the terms of the amending agreements with its lenders and noteholders, in the event that Penn West completes any asset dispositions prior to March 30, 2017 , it has committed to use the net proceeds from such asset dispositions to repay at par $650 million of the outstanding principal amounts owing to noteholders, with corresponding pro rata amounts from such asset dispositions to be used to repay any outstanding amounts drawn under its syndicated bank facility.
