Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. launched its 2015 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Challenge at the Chester Airport on Friday. The school year-long competition affords Connecticut high school students an opportunity to be mentored by Sikorsky engineers as the students work to solve an engineering design problem. The experience requires students to apply their creative thinking and in-class education to the types of technical problems faced in an actual engineering workplace. The fifth annual competition, which runs from October 9 to May 21, is co-sponsored by Sikorsky Aircraft and Connecticut Corsair, a volunteer organization dedicated to the promotion of education and Connecticut businesses.
