E*TRADE Financial Corp (NASDAQ:ETFC)’s shares gained 3.24% to $26.58.

E*TRADE Financial Corporation (ETFC) declared results from the most recent wave of Streetwise, E*TRADE’s quarterly tracking study of practiced investors. Results show that retirement saving weighs heavily on investors’ minds, and many wish they had learned more about saving for retirement.

  • Not having enough saved for retirement is a greater fear than physical injury or job loss.
  • Retirement is the number-one reason why practiced investors save for the long term.
  • “Saving for Retirement” is the finance course investors most wish they had taken in school.

Practiced investors’ retirement concerns come as nearly a quarter of all investors have made early withdrawals from a retirement account, with more than one in 10 having done so to make a large purchase, to vacation, or just to spend money on themselves. Of investors who made early withdrawals, roughly half of those under age 55 regret it.

At the end of Monday’s trade, Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE:HON)‘s shares surged 1.91% to $98.38.

Honeywell (HON) declared that Spectra® fiber will be used in ropes for new offshore oil and gas platforms for Petrobras, the largest oil and gas company in Latin America.

The high-performance fiber, also used extensively in body and vehicle armor, is being incorporated by Cortland, a leading engineered rope maker, into its BOB® 12×12 Fiber Rope, which will be used for the new oil and gas project as part of Rolls-Royce’s Fiber Rope Development System (FRDS). Spectra fiber is used in many varieties of industrial rope and cordage, and is, pound-for-pound, 15 times stronger than steel but light enough to float.

The BOB rope using Spectra was selected for use by Rolls-Royce on their next FRDS, making it the fourth system that uses Cortland’s BOB rope and Honeywell Spectra fiber. The new Rolls-Royce FRDS will be used for a five-year contract with Petrobras and leverages the strength of Spectra fiber as part of a deep-water lifting and placement system that has a single fall capacity of 150 tons.
