On Friday, Shares of Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD), gained 1.29% to $8.61.
During the month of September, Rite Aid associates nationwide will honor 274 students who have been named recipients of Folds of Honor educational scholarships offered by The Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents program. The $1.3 million donation to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization based in Owasso, Okla., dedicated to providing educational scholarships to children of fallen or disabled veterans, was first declared in May during Folds of Honor’s annual Patriot Cup Invitational.
Rite Aid CEO of Stores and President of Rite Aid Corporation Ken Martindale, who also serves as president of The Rite Aid Foundation, and Major Dan Rooney, CEO and Founder of Folds of Honor, will kick off the month of recognition by presenting 18 students from the greater Virginia Beach area with scholarships totaling $90,000. The presentation will take place recently at the Rite Aid store located at 897 Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach at 10 a.m.

Folds of Honor was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard who served three tours of duty in Iraq. XPO Logistics and Con-way Inc. declared that they have reached a definitive agreement for XPO Logistics to acquire Con-way. The transaction will enhance XPO`s range of supply chain solutions by making XPO the second largest less-than-truckload (LTL) provider in North America, and will expand the company`s global contract logistics platform. XPO will also capitalize on synergies from the combination with Con-way`s managed transportation, truckload and freight brokerage businesses.
Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich., Con-way is a Fortune 500 company with a transportation and logistics network of 582 locations and about 30,000 employees serving over 36,000 customers. For the full year 2015, consensus analysts` estimates for Con-way are $5.7 billion of revenue and $528 million of adjusted EBITDA. The transaction is predictable to be substantially accretive to XPO`s earnings in the first 12 months.
All of the attained operations - Con-way Freight, Menlo Logistics, Con-way Truckload and Con-way Multimodal - will be rebranded as XPO Logistics.
XPO Logistics, Inc. provides transportation and logistics services primarily in the United States. The company operates through two segments, Transportation and Logistics.
Finally, Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE:CVC), ended its last trade with 1.87% gain, and closed at $27.80.
Cablevision Systems Corporation and Tribune Media Company (TRCO) declared a broad-based multi-year content and media agreement. Specific financial terms were not revealed.
Under the agreement, Cablevision’s Optimum TV customers will continue to receive Tribune Media’s television stations in New York (WPIX-TV), Hartford (WTIC-TV and WCCT-TV), and Philadelphia (WPHL-TV). In addition, Cablevision will launch Tribune Media’s general entertainment cable network, WGN America, to its New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut video customers starting in January of 2016.
Cablevision also renewed its use of TV listings and movie data offered by Gracenote, Tribune Media’s digital data and entertainment company. Gracenote data is used to provide programming information on the Optimum interactive programming guide, DVR recordings and VOD content on set-top boxes and the Optimum app.
