Wednesday’s Active Stocks Alert: Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Ceres, Inc. (NASDAQ:CERE), Opexa Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXA), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ)

On Wednesday, Shares of Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), gained 1.45% to $16.74.

Dean Athanasia, president of Preferred and Small Business Banking and co-head of Consumer Banking at Bank of America, will take part in the Deutsche Bank Global Financial Services Investor Conference on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time.

On other hand, Top U.S. solar installer SolarCity Corp on Thursday said it has partnered with Bank of America on a $200 million fund that will enable smaller investors such as regional banks to finance the company’s residential solar systems, according to Reuters.

The move is aimed at bringing new capital into the fast-growing rooftop solar industry and ultimately reducing the cost of that capital, SolarCity’s chief executive, Lyndon Rive, said.

“That will bring many more investors and then more competition, and then that will reduce the cost,” Rive said in an interview.

SolarCity and other solar financing companies for years have raised funds of $100 million or more to finance their rooftop systems from major corporations such as Google and U.S. Bancorp. These so-called tax equity funds allow the companies to claim the lucrative federal tax credits for solar energy systems. The funds generate returns of between 8 and 10 percent. Reuters Reports.

Shares of Ceres, Inc. (NASDAQ:CERE), skyrocketed 74.40% to $2.93, during its last trading session.

Ceres, has been awarded a U.S. patent for a genetic sequence derived from soybean, covering uses of the gene in areas such as research, product development and plant transformation. The company believes that its gene is useful in regulating key biosynthetic processes that are the target of a class of commercial herbicides. Ceres plans to offer other seed companies a commercial license to the innovation, counting an opportunity for exclusivity in certain crops.

Richard Hamilton, President and CEO of Ceres, said that the company is presently evaluating the potential market for this gene among soybean seed companies and the use of its patented invention in the development and production of improved soybean varieties.

Ceres’ biotechnology platform, which has proven to enhance crop productivity, raise quality, reduce crop inputs and improve cultivation on marginal land, has broad application across multiple markets and crops.

Ceres, Inc., an agricultural biotechnology company, develops and sells energy crops to produce renewable bioenergy feedstocks in North America. The company’s energy crops comprise sweet sorghum; high biomass sorghum for the generation of renewable electric power and the creation of cellulosic biofuels; switchgrass, a perennial grass; miscanthus, a tall perennial grass for use as an energy crop.

At the end of Wednesday’s trade, Shares of Opexa Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXA), surged 34.81% to $0.52.
