Greek authorities said on Tuesday morning the coast guard found 14 migrants and the body of a man on the coast of a small island in the eastern Aegean Sea.
The Coast Guard found five men, six women and three children on the remote island of Farmakonisi, as well as the body of a man whose death is unknown.
Authorities said the migrants appeared to have arrived on the island from Turkey aboard a boat that sank after it left, with no reports of anyone missing on board the boat.
The Coast Guard added that the migrants and the deceased man were taken to the nearby island of Leros.
The number of migrants crossing the sea to Greece, a member of the European Union, has increased, fleeing conflict and poverty in the Middle East, Africa and Asia as they seek a better life in the wealthy bloc of 27 countries.
Despite the rise in immigration to Greece, Italy remains the main point of entry for migrants into the European Union, with around 114,200 arrivals this year.
Spain ranks second with over 21,000 immigrants, according to UN statistics, while Greece receives about 18,600 immigrants.
