18th-Century Coronation Bowl Fragment Unearthed by Archaeologists in Moscow

Alexei Yemelyanov, head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage, said that archaeologists during excavations in the city found part of a coronation chalice dating back to the eighteenth century.

At a press conference held at the press center of the Russia Today agency (Russia Today), Yemelyanov indicated that during the excavations that took place in late 2022 and early 2023, in addition to the mentioned fragment, they found a medal and a number of tools for smoking, such as pipes and others dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

This year, he added, archaeologists have found more than 200 artifacts, some of which have been restored and restored and transferred to the Museum Fund. The scientists also found dolls, children’s toys, eating utensils, kitchen utensils, perfume bottles, apothecary-related tools and items, and an eighteenth-century stove square depicting a temple.

Yemelyanov points out that in the current 2023, drilling in Moscow will continue at more than 700 sites.
