Thirteen Brookdale (BKD) Home Health agencies have been named among the 2015 HomeCare Elite, an initiative that recognizes the top-performing home health providers across the United States. Eight of the Brookdale agencies have won multiple times during the 10-year history of the HomeCare Elite and one has been singled out for special recognition by the program, which analyzes providers on an array of publicly stated measures. The award is sponsored by OCS HomeCare by National Research Corporation, the leading provider of home health and hospice metrics and analytics, and Decision Health, publisher of an independent publication in the home care profession, Home Health Line.
The HomeCare Elite program identifies the top 25% of the nation’s nearly 10,000 Medicare-certified home health agencies. It bases the determination on the quality of outcomes and the patient experience, together with implementation of best practices and other related measures.
One of the honored Brookdale Home Health agencies, located in Lexington, Ky., has captured the HomeCare Elite designation six times, a stature achieved by just 4% of the recognized organizations. Another, in Westlake, Ohio, has done so five times, something attained by only 5%. Three agencies, Brookdale Home Health Corpus Christi in Texas, Brookdale Home Health Birmingham in Oneonta, Ala., and Brookdale Home Health Holland in St. Joseph, Mich. have been recognized four times, which just 7% of the organizations have achieved. In addition, Brookdale Home Health Birmingham has placed among the top 500 of 2,431 agencies recognized this year.

Medtronic, declared that the University of Washington and King County (Seattle) Emergency Medical Services will lead the U.S. expansion of the Heart Rescue Project, a successful Medtronic Philanthropy partnership launched in five states in 2010 that brought together some of the nation`s leading resuscitation experts to improve survival rates for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
The newly formed U.S. Heart Rescue Consortium anticipates to comprise 17 new states by 2019. Maryland, Utah and Michigan have already joined. Work will continue in original partner states Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington, in addition to in communities served by American Medical Response. Partner states hope to collectively improve survival rates in new states by 25 percent in four years.
