Android phone owners can now use an updated version of Microsoft’s Office tools for writing, spreadsheets and slideshows. It’s only been about five weeks since Microsoft made the Office apps accessible as a preview for Android smartphones. Now Office for Android Phone is accessible to the masses.

The new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps are designed to provide more functions on small touchscreens. Microsoft released them for Android phones this week in another move to make some of its most popular software tools accessible to people who don’t use Microsoft’s Windows operating system, according to AP.

The company had released redesigned versions for Android tablets in January and for iPhones and iPads last year. But Android phone users had only a bare-bones version, except through a limited “preview” of the expanded offering. (Of course, Android device owners have also been able to use competing tools from Google and other app-makers).

There are still no comparable apps for phones and tablets running Microsoft’s own Windows system, though that will change once Windows 10 gets released next month.

The mobile apps are free, although Microsoft is offering more features to users with an Office 365 subscription, which starts at $70 a year. AP Reports.

Microsoft says some phone makers counting Samsung, Sony and LG will ship Android phones with Office already installed. AP added.

Last December, Microsoft delivered an updated and much-changed test build of a tool called Azure AD Connect that was designed to connect Active Directory on premises and various directories in the cloud, according to ZD Net.

On June 24, Microsoft made Azure AD Connect generally accessible for all Azure Active Directory customers, counting all businesses running Office 365. ZD Net Reports.

Mike Neil, Microsoft’s general manager of Enterprise Cloud stated that “As evidenced through our recent declarations such as Microsoft Azure Stack, OMS, Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016, Microsoft is committed to providing leading hybrid cloud solutions and support for our customers.”

Microsoft Corporation develops, licenses, markets, and supports software, services, and devices worldwide. The company’s Devices and Consumer (D&C) Licensing segment licenses Windows operating system and related software; Microsoft Office for consumers; and Windows Phone operating system.

Shares of Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:BAX), inclined 1.37% to $71.64, during its last trading session.

Baxalta Incorporated, a wholly-owned partner of Baxter International, stated continued progress on the Phase 1/2 open-label clinical trial assessing the safety and optimal dosing level of BAX 335, an investigational factor IX (FIX) gene therapy treatment for hemophilia B, during an oral presentation at the 2015 International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress in Toronto, Canada.

Individuals with hemophilia B lack the ability to produce clotting factor IX and are recently treated with infusions of plasma-derived or recombinant factor IX. BAX 335 is designed to provide a mechanism for a hemophilia B patient’s own liver to start producing FIX over an extended period following a single dose of treatment.

The technology Baxalta has investigated since 2012 is the Biological Nano Particle (BNP™) platform — an advanced rAAV8-based gene therapy technology obtained through the partnership and subsequent acquisition of Chatham Therapeutics. The BNP platform is designed to enable patients to achieve stable factor IX activity on their own when infused in the body. To achieve a therapeutic effect while keeping vector doses as low as possible, BAX 335 uses FIX-Padua, a naturally occurring, highly active variant of FIX.

A total of seven patients in three sequentially-ascending dosing cohorts have been treated in the trial with evidence of a dose-related response. No patients have developed FIX inhibitors to date. Some FIX expression was observed in the lowest dosing cohort (2×1011 vector genomes [vg] per kilogram of body weight: vg/kg). In the second dosing cohort (1×1012 vg/kg), two patients have practiced no bleeds without regular infusions of FIX and one of these patients has had sustained FIX expression levels of 20-25 percent for 12 months.
