After a One-Month Hiatus, Iraq Reopens Kurdish Oil Exports

The Iraqi oil minister said Turkish authorities have been informed of the resumption of oil export operations from Kurdistan in northern Iraq via the Turkish port of Ceyhan starting on Saturday, after a halt of more than a month.

According to a statement released by Minister Hayyan Abdul-Ghani’s office, the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) “informed the Turkish company BOTAS of the resumption of export and loading operations from Saturday, May 13th.

This comes just hours after the Kurdistan Autonomous Regional Government announced that it had reached an agreement with Baghdad to resume oil exports from the region and sent an official request to Turkey about it.
