The previous year, Microsoft said that Apple Music and Apple TV apps would be arriving at the Microsoft Store in 2023 for installation on Windows devices. These apps would give a superior experience of Apple Music and Apple TV+ compared to accessing them over the web or utilizing an obsolete version of Apple’s iTunes for Windows program.

The preview versions of these two programs, plus an app called Apple Devices, which allows Windows computers to manage iOS devices, including iPhones, iPads, and iPods, were made available in the Microsoft Store in January. However, given that these apps are still developing, Apple has cautioned that “not all features may work as expected.”

Because Apple does not provide release notes for the most recent versions, we do not have a complete list of the changes and fixes that have been made. However, users on Reddit have discovered that the Apple Music Preview app now appears to contain support for Windows 11 media controls and keyboard shortcuts, support for lyrics, and allows smoother continuous playback of successive lossless music. All of these features were previously unavailable.

Apple has been alleged to have removed mentions of the software that would run on their upcoming mixed reality headset from the Apple Devices Preview. “xrOS” and “RealityOS” are no longer mentioned anywhere in the game. During the development phase of the headset software, Apple referred to it internally as “Reality OS” or “rOS.” However, the company ultimately made the decision to change the name of the product to the less generic “xrOS,” which stands for “extended reality.” At this year’s WWDC in June, Apple is likely to show off its new headset.

This post will be updated once additional information regarding the new features added to the Apple TV Preview app becomes available.

The launch of iTunes for Windows will be obstructed if any of these applications are installed. Consequently, other sorts of content, such as audiobooks and podcasts, will no longer be accessible once Apple publishes a version of iTunes that is compatible with it or whenever the user uninstalls the preview apps.
