Apple Pay Now Available in Vietnam, Chile Support Coming Soon
Apple Pay is now available in Vietnam, allowing Apple users with a participating bank card to make transactions using the Wallet app.
Infrastructure Development for Apple Pay in Vietnam
Speculation about Apple Pay’s arrival in Vietnam began in July, and since then, institutions have been working on developing the necessary infrastructure for the payments service. This allows iPhone and Apple Watch users to make contactless payments at supporting stores without manually entering their payment information. Techcombank, for instance, plans to support Apple Pay, as revealed by a leaked support page.
Supported Locations and Competition
Apple Pay will be accessible at various locations in Vietnam, including WinMart, Phuc Long, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Highlands Coffee, and CGV Cinemas. It will be interesting to see how Apple Pay competes against other payment methods, particularly the prevalent use of QR codes in Vietnam.
As per Apple’s backend, Apple Pay is now live in Vietnam!
