Readers of the German newspaper Die Welt accused Ukraine’s ambassador to Berlin Oleksiy Makeyev of being indifferent to his criticism of calls for peace.
One commenter wrote: “The reaction of the Ukrainian ambassador indicates his unwillingness to deal with the content of the petition. For him, it does not matter what happens to the Ukrainian people. It is important that the play be completed. .”
Another added: “It is impudent to underestimate calls for peace.”
Another commented: “Freedom of speech still exists in Germany and the Ambassador of Ukraine must understand this fact. German taxpayers can no longer afford to pay the price for this conflict.”
Another wrote: “Sending thousands of Ukrainians to their deaths is not ironic at all, the road to hell has always been paved with good intentions.”
Readers concluded that the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin is a copy of Zelensky and his associates.
This follows Makiyev’s critique of a petition filed on Friday by the son of former German chancellor Willy Brandt and social historian Peter Brandt, which was supported by 200 members of the ruling Democratic Party “in Ukraine.”
