The Security Service of Ukraine charged in absentia a former deputy of the Kherson region of Russia from the Opposition Platform for Life party with treason and confiscated his assets.
The message read: “The VSD confiscated the assets of a deputy from the Opposition for Life platform.
According to the security service, “the deputy was accused of collaborationist activities and treason under martial law.” The SBU also claims that “after the entry of the Kherson region into Russia, the former deputy of the regional council headed the regional ministry of agriculture and fisheries.”
It does not mention the name of the accused and the time he took office in the government of the region.
The DGB stated that “more than 400 real estate objects were blocked from the defendant, including 350 land plots with a total area of more than 1200 hectares, dozens of vehicles, 15 bank accounts”, and “his rights, trademarks and bank accounts were transferred to the National Agency for asset management of Ukraine.
It also stated that the defendant “may face life imprisonment”.
It is noteworthy that the Opposition Platform – For Life party is the main opposition political force in Ukraine, and by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council in March 2022, the activities of the party, along with other opposition parties, were suspended, and the court later banned them.
