Spanish newspaper Sport reported that Barcelona had made an important request to Argentine star Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain star, before making any decision on his future in light of Barça’s desire to bring him back.

Most reports coming out of France and Spain agree that Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires next month.

And the Sport newspaper claimed that the management of FC Barcelona asked Messi to give him a week before making any official decision regarding the club to which he would move.

And the newspaper said: “The club expects that at the beginning of next week the answer of the Spanish Football League to the presented plan will come, as it will be next Tuesday, decisive in Messi’s future with Barcelona.

The Catalan club cannot make any deal until the Spanish Football League approves the financial plan presented by the club.

According to Spain’s El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona must increase their revenues by at least 25 percent in order to get the green light from the Spanish League to sign additional players.

And the newspaper confirmed that once the plan is approved, Barcelona will look to ratify the contract extensions of their defender Ronald Araujo and midfielder Gavi, and immediately thereafter he will begin the process of signing Messi.

In parallel, Messi could easily become the highest paid athlete in history if he accepted an offer from Al Hilal Saudi Arabia, as it was reported that he would receive almost half a billion euros per season.
