The White House said Thursday that US President Joe Biden will host Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the White House next Tuesday, ignoring Netanyahu’s invitation to the White House.
This was stated by White House Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre. statement “Biden will highlight the importance of our shared democratic values and discuss ways to support just measures of freedom, prosperity and security for Palestinians and Israelis.”
The Duke is due to address a joint session of the US Congress during his visit to Washington.
His trip comes after a period of rising violence in the West Bank, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s sectarian-nationalist government has been criticized by the Biden administration for resuming settlement construction.
Netanyahu has yet to be accepted into the White House despite winning a sixth term in Israel, which is unprecedented.
Biden declined to say in an interview with CNN Sunday whether Netanyahu would be invited.
“I think Netanyahu is trying to solve his current problems in terms of his coalition,” Biden said in an interview, noting that Netanyahu’s government is one of the governments with the most extremist members.
After Biden’s speech on Sunday, far-right Israeli security minister Itamar Ben Gvir asked on Twitter, “What exactly is extreme in my case?”
“President Biden needs to understand that we are no longer the star on the American flag,” he added.
