At least 20 people died yesterday in the Indian state of Bihar due to the use of counterfeit alcoholic beverages, 6 people were taken to hospital in serious condition, NDTV reported today, Saturday.

The channel, citing sources, said that yesterday, Friday, a fake alcohol tank (cistern) of suspicious origin was delivered to the city of Motihari. Its contents were divided among the merchants of these products.

This is expected to lead to an increase in the death toll.

It is noteworthy that in April 2016 a complete ban was announced on the production, sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the state of Bihar.

Criticism is often directed at the state’s chief minister, Nitish Kumar, who is seen as the main mover behind the liquor ban issue. mass production of imitation alcoholic beverages in Bihar, resulting in frequent deaths.

Responding to this, Kumar said in March last year that he considers “guilty” people who drink alcohol, who “cannot be considered Indians.”
