US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed on Sunday that Ukraine will receive F-16 fighter jets, but the process will take several months.

And the US Secretary of State said: “Even if the decision on the F-16 fighter is taken tomorrow, it will be several months before it starts to be implemented.” Blinken emphasized that he “talks about training and maintenance and the availability of their application in joint military operations. All this takes time.”

When asked to clarify whether he believes Ukraine will receive American fighter jets, he said he believes so, given that “it is important to focus on ensuring that when they receive them, they are properly trained and able to maintain these aircraft and use them wisely.”

Earlier, US strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said that the delivery of American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine could begin at the end of this year, but this is unlikely to change the course of the conflict.

And US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also said that training for Ukrainian pilots to use F-16 fighters in the European Union could begin within two weeks.

He emphasized that “Washington, for its part, will not delay the process of issuing study permits and will provide everything necessary to start it.”
