Naval News reported that China recently launched a new class of warship it has developed for its army navy.

Details of the New Warship

“The Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai recently launched a new warship designed for the Chinese army, the ship belongs to a new class of Type-054B ships,” the website said.

According to the website, the aforementioned ship is a completely new combat frigate compared to the Type-054A frigates currently owned by China, as it has about 50% more displacement and better weaponry.

A vertical missile launch platform containing 32 launch cells is installed in front of the new ship, with what type of missile it will be used with is not yet known, since it will most likely be used to launch the medium-range HQ-16, long-range anti-aircraft missiles or Yu-8 anti-ship and anti-submarine missiles.

Additional Weaponry

Available information indicates that the ship also acquired 30 mm machine guns and HQ-10 missile systems.

The ship is supposed to be armed with 100-mm guns, similar to those used on Type-051C, Type-052V and Type-052C destroyers.
