Ahead of an upcoming visit in early April, European Commission President Ursula von Deer slammed China, saying it had ushered in a new era of control, expansion and change in the international system.
In a speech she gave today, Thursday, at the Center for European Policy, she stressed that the European Union’s relationship with Beijing has become more complicated in recent years.
He also believes that the Chinese authorities have begun to “strengthen and expand their security strength and military influence, turning the page of reform and opening up to usher in an era of security and military strength,” as she puts it.

And he accused the ruling party of seeking to change the international system.
In addition, she pointed out that EU countries are monitoring the increase in Chinese military spending, as well as disinformation campaigns carried out by the authorities. And stressed that its military and economic strength confirms that Beijing is no longer a developing country.
Regarding Sino-Russian relations, von der Leyen believed that China’s cooperation with Russia and its approach to the war with Ukraine would determine the course of relations with it.
She also pointed out that Beijing must play a constructive role to achieve a just peace in Ukraine.
Similarly, she saw that the Chinese authorities were watching the weakness of Russian President Vladimir Putin and expanding their influence in Russia.
Regarding the Taiwan case, the European Commission reaffirmed its support for stability and peace in the Taiwan Strait.
It is noteworthy that French President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the European Commission are expected to visit China in early April.
This visit comes after an escalation of tensions between Beijing and Western countries, against the backdrop of accusations by the Chinese authorities of supporting the Russian side in the Ukrainian crisis.
Although last month, China took the initiative to start dialogue and negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides with the aim of reaching a peace plan that would end the war, which is now in its second year.
