Chinese Foreign Minister highlights significance of Iran’s involvement in Belt and Road summit

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi considered Tehran’s participation in the upcoming Belt and Road meeting important, given that Iran is one of the main members of this group, IRNA reported.

Today, Sunday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian had a telephone conversation, during which they reviewed the latest developments in the bilateral and international arenas.

As “IRNA” informs, Amir Abdollahian congratulated his colleague Wang Yi on his re-election to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, calling relations between Tehran and Beijing positive and developing.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also noted the progress made in the implementation of the agreements signed between the presidents of the two countries, believing that the continuation of the “25-year cooperation plan between Iran and China” is a step in the right direction.

In a telephone conversation, Wang Yi touched upon his country’s position on the BRICS summit in South Africa and issues related to the accession of new members to this group.

He also praised the recent visit of the Iranian foreign minister to Saudi Arabia and the progress in the growing relationship between Tehran and Riyadh, IRNA reported.
