Othman commented on this on On Time Sports, saying: “All the referee’s decisions were correct and successful, and I only blame him for being nervous when dealing with the players.”
He added: “In addition to USM not giving the penalty directly and waiting for VAR to intervene even though it was close to the game.”
He stressed: “The referee was right in his decision to disallow the goal scored by Mahmoud Abdel Moneim (Kahraba) because the ball was in the possession of the USM goalkeeper and he had already put his hand on it.”
He continued: “Even if he did not have his hands on the ball and put one hand on it, it is in his possession and therefore disallowing the goal is the correct decision.”
He concluded: “Reda Selim’s shot, which fell on the edge of the USMA penalty area, deserved a free kick, not a penalty.”
