Chinese Company CTG Announces Construction of World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Chinese company CTG has announced the construction of the world’s largest offshore wind farm with a capacity of 16 megawatts off the coast of the southeastern city of Fujian.

Turbine Specifications

The turbine is 146 m high, with a rotor diameter of 252 m and a blade length of 123 m. It is built on a land area of ​​50,000 square meters.

Record Electricity Generation

The turbine will generate a record amount of electricity up to 34.2 kilowatt-hours per cycle, or about 66 gigawatt-hours per year, enough to cover the electricity needs of 36,000 homes.

Environmental Impact

The project cost about 6 billion Chinese yuan ($761 million) and will save half a million tons of coal consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.36 million tons annually.
