During Wednesday’s Morning trade, Shares of Mallinckrodt PLC (NYSE:MNK), lost -1.48% to $56.65.

Mallinckrodt plc, declared that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared INOmax DSIR® Plus MRI device for delivery of INOMAX® (nitric oxide) for inhalation during MRI procedures.

The INOmax DSIR Plus MRI delivery system is indicated for delivery of INOMAX® (nitric oxide) for inhalation therapy gas into the patient-breathing circuit to provide a constant concentration of nitric oxide (NO) to the patient. The INOmax DSIR Plus MRI is indicated for use only with Magnetic Resonance Conditional ventilators validated to be compatible, as identified in the device labeling.

“Neonates being treated with INOmax frequently have multiple medical concerns that may need diagnostic imaging, such as an MRI scan, to guide medical administration. Before INOmax DSIR Plus MRI, physicians had to make the difficult decision to take the risk of interrupting INOmax treatment so that imaging could be done,” said Dr. Stephen Welty, Professor of Pediatrics and leading neonatologist. “Now, we can deliver uninterrupted inhaled nitric oxide treatment during diagnostic imaging, which will facilitate clinical decision-making and patient care.”

Raytheon Company, has funded a $37,000 grant to assist teach engineering concepts and practices to elementary school students in San Antonio, Texas. The grant to the San Antonio Independent School District is part of a larger $2 million Raytheon initiative, launched in 2011, to assist improve STEM education nationwide by expanding the use of Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®), an award-winning curriculum developed at the Museum of Science, Boston through its National Center for Technological Literacy® (NCTL®).

“Raytheon’s generous support greatly expands our mission to bring engineering to elementary-aged children,” said Museum of Science president and director Ioannis Miaoulis, who created the NCTL to introduce engineering in schools and museums nationwide.

The Raytheon-Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®) grant funds professional development for a group of 25 teachers from the district, who will attend a workshop that prepares them to use EiE with their students. San Antonio is one of four districts this year and among a total of 17 schools and districts since 2013 to receive one of these Raytheon awards.

In preparation for winter, Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec), a partner of FirstEnergy Corp. (FE), is concluding inspections and conducting equipment maintenance on weather-sensitive equipment across its service area.

Cold temperatures produce raised demand for electricity, and heavy snow and wind have the potential to cause damage to poles, wires and substations, requiring crews to make repairs in difficult conditions. Concluding inspections and maintenance of equipment now can assist to enhance system reliability when the snow starts to fly.

“Preparing our infrastructure for winter operation assists to enhance the reliability of our system,” said Scott Wyman, regional president of Penelec. “Coupled with winter maintenance for our vehicles and snow removal equipment, these efforts assist us to provide more reliable service to our customers.”
