Sysco Corporation, declared financial results for its 13-week first fiscal quarter ended September 26, 2015.
First Quarter Fiscal 2016 Highlights
- Sales raised 0.9% to $12.6 billion;
- Gross profit raised 2.3% to $2.2 billion; gross margin raised 23 basis points to 17.81%;
- Adjusted operating income reduced 0.5% to $506 million; and
- Adjusted Earnings Per Share (EPS) was flat at $0.52.
“Our first quarter results demonstrate important early progress toward achieving our recently established three-year financial aims,” said Bill DeLaney, Sysco president and chief executive officer. “Specifically, our U.S. Broadline operations delivered strong local case growth and excellent gross margin administration in a challenging deflationary environment.”
Sysco Corporation, through its auxiliaries, markets and distributes a range of food and related products primarily to the foodservice or food-away-from-home industry. Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and Comcast NBCUniversal, declared the Comcast Foundation has invested more than $3 million in BGCA’s My.Future technology initiative. The grants are part of the company’s five-year partnership with BGCA, which was declared last year and is valued at tens of millions of dollars. The grants will further develop the My.Future technology platform and curriculum and give more Clubs access to the technology, tools and teachers to activate the program. My.Future provides hands-on technology training to equip Club kids with the skills needed to compete in a 21st century economy.
BGCA is using $1.5 million to further develop and build-out the My.Future program. The remaining funding is being awarded to about 90 local Boys & Girls Clubs across the country to provide Club staff with training and to purchase state-of-the-art equipment that reflects recently’s mobile environment, counting computers, tablets, smartboards, digital cameras, music studio tools and video-editing technology needed for the Clubs to fully implement and teach the My.Future curriculum.
