Current Trade Stocks Roundup: Greenbrier Companies (NYSE:GBX), Quest Diagnostics (NYSE:DGX), EQT (NYSE:EQT)

During Thursday’s Current trade, Shares of Greenbrier Companies Inc (NYSE:GBX), gain 3.81% to $36.26.

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (GBX) declared that it anticipates to exceed formerly offered diluted EPS guidance of $5.70 to $5.85 (not taking into account non-recurring costs in the third quarter of $0.16 per share) for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2015. These higher expectations are principally driven by raised margins in the Company’s manufacturing segment, which comprises lease syndications and a lower than anticipated tax rate related to geographic mix of earnings. In addition, Greenbrier revealed it received diversified new orders in its fourth quarter ended August 31, 2015 for 2,900 railcar units valued at $470 million. Orders for the quarter comprise medium and large cube covered hopper cars, automobile carrying cars, boxcars and tank cars. The tank car orders comprise a recent award for 1,200 tank cars from Saudi Railway Company (SAR). (More details on the SAR order can be found in a separate news release issued recently by the Company.)

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets railroad freight car equipment in North America and Europe.

Shares of Quest Diagnostics Inc (NYSE:DGX), declined -0.29% to $62.50, during its current trading session.

In advance of the 2015-2016 flu season, Focus Diagnostics, the products business of Quest Diagnostics (DGX), declared that its Simplexa™ Flu A/B & RSV Direct Kit has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for 46 additional influenza A and influenza B virus strains and 7 additional respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) strains.

The FDA granted 510(k) initial clearance to the Simplexa test kit for select virus strains in July 2012 and clearance of some additional strains in 2014. With the recent clearance, the Simplexa test can detect a total of 92 influenza and RSV virus strains, more than any other FDA-cleared molecular test kit. These comprise all four influenza strains the World Health Organization recommends be comprised of in vaccines during the northern hemisphere’s 2015-2016 influenza season: A/Switzerland/9715293/2013 (H3N2)-like virus; A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus, B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus and B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus.

In addition, the 46 new influenza strains comprise 20 avian influenza A and two swine influenza virus strains. These may be increasingly important to detect, as avian and swine influenza viruses can carry over into human populations.
