Commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, said he received a phone call from UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
On his Twitter account, Daglo said he had discussed with Guterres all issues related to the current crisis in light of the humanitarian truce, as well as the importance of opening safe passages for citizens and residents and facilitating their movement to receive possible assistance.
Daglo added that, together with Guterres, he stressed the need to maintain a complete ceasefire and ensure the protection of humanitarian and medical workers, especially those of the UN, regional and international organizations.
Earlier, the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan announced their readiness to partially open all Sudanese airports for air communication with countries wishing to evacuate their citizens.
The Force said in a Facebook statement: “In accordance with the humanitarian truce declared by the Rapid Support Forces for 72 hours and in order to facilitate the movement of citizens and residents, the Rapid Support Forces announces its readiness to partially open all airports in Sudan to air traffic in order to fraternal and friendly countries could safely evacuate their citizens from the country.
