Egypt’s Car Import Index Continues to Decline
Egypt’s car import index has continued to decline since the middle of last year 2022, as the total value of passenger car imports was around $72,890,000 in March.
Decrease in Car Imports
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, in March 2022 it amounted to $278 million 571 thousand, with a decrease of $205 million 681 thousand.
Egypt’s car imports were impacted by a decline in Egypt’s total imports of consumer durables over the period, as the value of its total imports declined to about $134,457,000 in March last year, compared to about $607,901,000 in March last year. in the same month of 2022 with a decrease in value of approximately $473 million 444 thousand.
Savings in Car Imports
Egypt’s car imports achieved significant savings in the first half of last 2022 as data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed a decline in Egypt’s passenger car imports between “January and June” 2022, with a value that exceeded about $700 million.
Egypt’s passenger car imports fell to $1 billion 172 million in the first six months of last year, down from about $1 billion 904 million in the corresponding period in 2021, according to the Statistics Office, with a decrease of 732 million 510 thousand dollars.
