Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized the Attorney General of Manhattan, New York, for bringing charges against former President Donald Trump, but noted that the case involved “payments to a porn star.”
At a press conference, DeSantis said, “I don’t know what would happen if a porn star is paid money to keep quiet about some alleged relationship… I can’t talk about it.”
He added: “But what I can say is that if you have a prosecutor who ignores the crimes that happen every day in his jurisdiction and decides to go back a few years to try and do something about gag payments to porn stars, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda.” “.
Trump aides took the reference to the “porn star” as offensive and described his defense as less than enthusiastic.
Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington tweeted: “Are you kidding? Say his name! What a complete scam. He’s looking for the falsely accused President Trump, and he can’t even name him!”
In turn, Trump said on the Truth Social website: “Ron de Sanctimonius will probably face false accusations and fake stories at some point in the future, I’m sure he’ll want to fight it as hard as I do! »
