Scientists Discover Flower that Lowers Blood Sugar Levels
Scientists at the University of Otago in New Zealand have discovered a flower that lowers blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
Research Findings
The journal Life Metabolism points out that in an eight-year randomized controlled cross-over clinical trial, scientists tested three compounds extracted from dahlia flower petals (previously tested in animals and found to reduce brain inflammation, increase brain sensitivity to insulin, and help regulate blood sugar levels) for people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
It became clear to scientists that a plant molecule derived from dahlia extract regulates blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
Based on these results, the researchers obtained an official patent and partnered with a commercial company to market this natural supplement to help maintain normal blood sugar and insulin levels.
