Fitness Trainer Shares Military-Approved Sleep Technique
Introduction
Fitness trainer Justin Agustin shared a military-approved sleep “method” that claims 96% of people who follow it fall asleep within two minutes of closing their eyes.
Background
Justin, who called the technique “amazing,” explained, “According to my research, this technique was developed primarily for fighter pilots who need 100% concentration, which we all know decreases with lack of sleep.”
The Technique
First you need to calm your body and systematically relax, starting from head to toe.
“Start by relaxing your forehead muscles,” Justin said. Relax your eyes, cheeks and jaw and focus on your breathing. Then make sure your shoulders are not tense. Lower it as low as possible and keep your arms at your sides, including your hands and fingers.
Imagine this warm feeling moving from your head to your fingertips.”
Take a deep breath and exhale slowly, relaxing your chest and stomach, reaching your hips, knees, legs and feet.
“Again, imagine that warm feeling flowing from your heart to your toes,” Justin said.
Then clear your mind of any stress.
Justin recommended thinking about two scenarios:
- You lie in a canoe on a calm lake, and there is nothing above you but a clear blue sky.
- Lying on a black velvet hammock in a pitch-dark room.
Justin added: “Every time you start thinking about something else or whenever you start to get distracted, repeat these words for ten seconds: ‘Don’t think, don’t think.’ Justin added.”
