Today, Monday, Egypt launched a giant project to connect the Raven gas field in the province of Alexandria with a gas complex in the (Egyptian) Western Desert.

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Tarek El Molla, said it was important to maximize Egypt’s role in the gas industry, which has a clear vision based on economic reform and political stability, according to a statement from the Egyptian Oil Ministry.

The Minister pointed to Egypt’s success in building outstanding international and regional relations and its cooperation with reliable partners to develop and increase the extraction of natural resources, in addition to the oil sector’s constant desire to create an attractive investment climate and the necessary ingredients for its success.

It comes during the full commissioning of the first phase connection of the Raven gas field in Egypt, which is one of the fields in the concession area north of Alexandria where British oil company BP is developing it with gas. complex in the Western Desert operated by the Egyptian Gas Company (GASCO) in Alexandria.

Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum, said the oil industry, with its long history and vision, is always working to maximize the economic return from natural resources, stressing that the Western Desert Gas Complex is considered one of the important oil facilities. which serve the needs of the local market and petrochemical complexes from gas derivatives.

Engineer Tariq Al-Mulla added: “The strategy for the development and modernization of the oil sector, launched in 2016, defined a vision to develop and increase the capacity of production facilities to keep up with the pace of growth and the growing needs of the market. Therefore, today we have witnessed the opening of a new phase of the stages of increasing factory production in the Western Desert complex, as well as improving the security of supply.

The minister listened to a presentation by Gasco chief engineer Yasser Salah on what had been achieved in the project to link the Raven gas field in Egypt to the Western Desert gas complex, a real example of accelerating the oil projects needed to increase and secure production.

He continued: “The connection of the Crow gas field has come to power the complex from the fields of the Mediterranean, in addition to the main power of the complex from the gases of the fields of the Western Desert, which works to improve the safety of the supply and to achieve full benefit from the gases rich in derivatives found in the Mediterranean Sea, to achieve objectives of the ministry’s strategy to maximize the benefits of natural gas and its derivatives.

The head of GASCO noted that his company has installed a 70 km long and 18 inch diameter line to transfer the production of the Raven gas field from the Rashid region to the Western Desert gas complex, in addition to expanding a branch line 5 km long and 18 inches in diameter to transport gases from the field to butane plant “Amria”.
