Egypt records record-breaking surge in tourism numbers

Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa announced that April saw the highest number of tourists in a month in the history of Egyptian tourism.

He explained that Egypt received 1.350 million tourists this month, pointing out his expectations that the number of tourists arriving in Egypt by the end of this year will reach 15 million.

Speaking on the sidelines of the North Coast DOSE Hotel Management and Operations Contract Signing between Akam Al-Rajhi Real Estate Development and IHG Hotels and Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar , Minister of Health and Population, he pointed out that the rate of growth seen in the inbound tourism traffic to Egypt indicates that the Egyptian tourism sector needs to achieve an increase in the number of hotel rooms by about half a million rooms in order to meet the goal of the Egyptian tourism industry, which by 2028 year should reach 30 million tourists.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities explained the importance of investing in tourism in Egypt, emphasizing that Egypt deserves to be the first tourist country in the world and to have a large share in the world’s tourism traffic, pointing to its diverse and unique tourism and archaeological components. .

Issa emphasized the importance of the role played by the private sector and its ability to lead the growth in the tourism industry as it is most effective in achieving the goal of this industry, pointing out the importance of the private sector benefiting from the issuance of Law no. By ratifying it, after the final approval by the House of Representatives in plenary session on this law.

He explained that this law is aimed at strengthening the role and strength of the private sector in the tourism industry in Egypt and its greater representation through the Federation and the Chambers of Tourism, so that their role is more effective and with a high degree of efficiency to represent the industry before the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as observer and regulator of work in the tourism industry in Egypt and thus to save. It also enables them to build effective think tank research institutes for market research and policy proposals, and improve the effectiveness of the role of self-control and the ability of the tourism sector to self-organize.

Eissa emphasized the importance of the private sector benefiting from the high-impact public spending programs implemented by Egypt over the past 7 and 8 years under the auspices of the President of the Republic, pointing to the development that Egypt is experiencing in terms of infrastructure, roads and a transport network that facilitates movement tourists between different tourist destinations. Pointing out that the city of El Alamein and the boom it is experiencing in terms of having the El Alamein airport, infrastructure, roads and hospitals, which makes the tourist experience for a tourist when visiting this city unique.
