Eiffel Tower Joins National Strike, Closes to Public

The management of the Eiffel Tower in the French capital Paris announced the closure of the tower after the strike of its employees on the tenth day of mobilization against the reform of the pension system.

Management announced statement: “Due to a nationwide strike movement, the Eiffel Tower is currently closed.”

French media reports that access to the tower’s forecourt is still open.

She indicated that about 350 people work in the tower, explaining in context that the historic site will open to visitors on Wednesday, March 29.

Since the beginning of the mobilization against the reform of the pension system in Paris, memorial and historical monuments have been closed several times due to the strike, knowing that today the Arc de Triomphe, the Palace of Versailles and the Louvre are closed to the public.

Mass demonstrations took place in several major French cities on Tuesday against the government’s plan to change the pension system.
