Kosovo said onlineLocal elections in four municipalities in northern Kosovo were held Sunday without voters as they were boycotted by the majority of Serbs living there.

The site notes that in the municipalities of North Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavić, elections are being held for deputies of local councils - representative bodies, as well as their heads.

Previously, the representative and executive bodies of the municipalities, mainly consisting of candidates from the Serbian List party, this time announced a boycott of the elections due to pressure and provocations from the Albanian authorities in Kosovo, and the refusal to participate was widely supported by the townspeople.

In parts of northern Kosovo, more than 45,000 people are eligible to vote, of whom Albanians make up less than 2 percent, according to official Belgrade figures, and voter turnout is expected to be similar.

Voting takes place from 7.00 (8.00 Moscow time) to 19.00 (20.00 Moscow time), it is observed by 357 observers from political movements, foreign embassies and missions, media and public organizations.
