On July 20, Microsoft Corporation and General Electric (GE) have signed a contract to deliver Microsoft’s cloud productivity suite Office 365 to GE’s more than 300,000 employees across 170 countries worldwide.
GE’s IT organization, which is recognized as one of the most planned and forward-thinking among large enterprises worldwide, selected Office 365 based on Microsoft’s ability to deliver rich productivity experiences at massive scale across devices and platforms, in addition to its ability to rapidly and reliably deploy to GE’s large global employee population. Specifically, Office 365 will provide several key benefits to GE and its employees, counting these:
- A comprehensive and integrated set of productivity capabilities counting email, Skype for Business calling and meetings, real-time document co-authoring, and team collaboration
- Extensibility of the Office 365 platform, which will enable GE to enhance the capabilities of critical line-of-business applications by connecting to Office 365 through open APIs
- IT controls and security capabilities that enable GE to provide employees with secured access to information and full productivity capabilities on a multitude of devices, while adhering to corporate policies, industry regulations and legal requirements.
Microsoft Corporation develops, licenses, markets, and supports software, services, and devices worldwide. The company’s Devices and Consumer (D&C) Licensing segment licenses Windows operating system and related software; Microsoft Office for consumers; and Windows Phone operating system.
Shares of Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE:LUV), inclined 3.67% to $37.53, during its last trading session.
The Board of Directors of Southwest Airlines declared that Ron Ricks, 65, has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Board. Concurrently, Ricks declared that he is retiring from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer after serving as an Officer of Southwest Airlines for the past 29 years.
Southwest Airlines declared these additional leadership changes, all reporting to Kelly:
- Tammy Romo was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to maintaining her most recent responsibilities as Sr. Vice President and CFO, the leadership of Supply Chain Administration now reports to Romo. Romo joined Southwest Airlines in 1991.
- Mark Shaw was promoted to Sr. Vice President General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In addition to maintaining his responsibilities over the Company’s General Counsel Department, Governmental Affairs leadership now reports to Shaw. Shaw has been with Southwest Airlines since 2000.
- Jeff Lamb, who has been with Southwest Airlines since 2004, maintains the responsibilities of his most recent role as Executive Vice President Chief People and Administrative Officer, and expands his leadership to now comprise Airport Affairs. His new title is Executive Vice President Corporate Services.
Southwest Airlines Co. operates passenger airlines that provide planned air transportation services in the United States and near-international markets. As of December 31, 2014, it operated 665 Boeing 737 aircraft; and had 12 Boeing 717 aircraft.
Finally, Louisiana-Pacific Corp. (NYSE:LPX), ended its last trade with 2.04% gain, and closed at $15.04.
LP Building Products has again been awarded the prestigious “Partners of Choice” Award from David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately held home builder.
This is the second successive year that LP has been selected for the award.
LP was among 16 outstanding suppliers that David Weekly Homes recognized using its industry-leading evaluation platform, the National Trading Partner Survey. A major component of the National Trading Partner Survey was first implemented in 2004.
LP achieved an “A,A” ranking in both service and quality. This is the highest award presented by the homebuilder.
