On Monday, Shares of International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM), lost -0.63% to $139.55. IBM (NYSE: IBM) declared IBM Object Storage, an IBM Cloud service which allows developers to interactively compose and connect object storage into their apps. This service provides app creators with a fully scalable, API-accessible platform to store and retrieve unstructured data, in addition to build apps around this content. Available in beta on Bluemix, IBM’s Cloud Platform, Object Storage also allows developers to access this valuable data from external apps.

IBM Object Storage makes it faster, easier and more secure for developers to tap into and store growing volumes of unstructured data, counting content such as images, documents and videos. It’s estimated that out of the 2.5 billion gigabytes of data which are created every day, 80 percent is comprised of unstructured content.

To assist solve the challenge of how to capture, store and gain intelligence from rapidly increasing amounts of unstructured data, IBM has built a strong portfolio of technologies - counting IBM Object Storage and its recent acquisition of Cleversafe. Cleversafe’s portfolio allows businesses to efficiently store and manage massive amounts of data throughout their organization, enabling them to scale and connect into large-scale content repositories, backup, archives and more.

IBM launched Bluemix with a $1 billion investment in 2014, growing rapidly to become the largest public Cloud Foundry deployment in the world. The open-standards-based Bluemix catalog comprises over 120 tools and services spanning categories of big data, mobile, Watson, analytics, integration, DevOps, security and Internet of Things. IBM Bluemix was recently shown to be the “developers’ choice” of PaaS, and is growing 10-times faster than the overall PaaS market, according to research firm ESG.

International Business Machines Corporation provides information technology (IT) products and services worldwide. The company’s Global Technology Services segment provides IT infrastructure and business process services, such as outsourcing, processing, integrated technology, cloud, and technology support. Its Global Business Services segment offers consulting and systems integration services for strategy and transformation, application innovation services, enterprise applications, and smarter analytics; and application administration, maintenance, and support services.
