Pre-Market News Review: Frontier Communications Corporation, (NASDAQ:FTR), American International Group, (NYSE:AIG), Molycorp, (NYSE:MCP)

On Wednesday, Shares of Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:FTR), gained 0.20% to $4.98.

Frontier Communications Corporation, was honored last night at the 2015 New York State Broadband Summit and Awards Ceremony in Albany. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared Frontier among the winners of the New York State Broadband Champion Awards that recognized leaders whose efforts expand broadband access across the state.

Frontier received two awards: The “Economic Leadership Award” for its broadband initiative with Hamilton County, bestowed for the successful implementation of an innovative, economically promising project to enhance the county’s social and economic fabric and quality of life; and the “Most Innovative Broadband Project Award” for its creativity in assisting the Town of Thurman connect to the Internet via white space technology.

Frontier Communications Corporation, a communications company, provides regulated and unregulated voice, data, and video services to residential, business, and wholesale customers in the United States. The company offers residential services, such as fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-node broadband, video, and voice over Internet protocol products, in addition to traditional copper-based broadband products; and commercial services, counting Ethernet, dedicated Internet, multiprotocol label switching, time division multiplexing, data transport services, and optical transport services.

Shares of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG), declined -0.19% to $61.86, during its last trading session, following reports that the company is looking for a chief investment officer to oversee a portfolio valued at more than $350 billion, according to Bloomberg.

The new hire would take over for Executive VP William Dooley who is nearing retirement after working for the company since 1978.

American International Group, Inc. provides insurance products and services for commercial, institutional, and individual customers in the United States, the Asia Pacific, and internationally. The company’s Commercial Insurance segment offers general liability, commercial automobile liability, workers’ compensation, excess casualty, and crisis administration causality insurance products; commercial, industrial, and energy-related property insurance products; aerospace, environmental, political risk, trade credit, surety, and marine insurance products, in addition to various insurance products for small and medium sized enterprises; and professional liability insurance products for a range of businesses and risks.

Finally, Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE:MCP), ended its last trade with 1.28% gain, and closed at $0.44.

Molycorp, declared that it has elected to take advantage of the 30-day grace period with respect to the about $3.36 million semi-annual interest payment due June 15, 2015 on its 3.25% Senior Unsecured Convertible Notes due 2016, as offered for in the indenture governing the notes. This election by the Company will not trigger any cross-default provisions in other outstanding Company debt preceding to the end of the grace period and should not affect current operations. As formerly revealed, the Company has retained financial and legal advisors to assist the Company in restructuring its debt. The Company will use the grace period to continue to evaluate different options related to such debt restructuring.

Molycorp, Inc. produces and sells rare earths and rare metal materials in the United States and internationally. The company’s Resources segment extracts rare earth minerals, counting light rare earth concentrates; rare earth oxides (REO), such as lanthanum, cerium, and neodymium-praseodymium; heavy rare earth concentrates, which comprise samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, and others; and SorbX and PhosFIX, a line of rare earth-based water treatment products.
